Prachi Desai parents are Niranjan Desai, who works as a professor and Ameeta Desai. She has a sister named Esha Desai, who is also an actress.
Desai attended St. Joseph Convent in Panchgani, Maharashtra. She later went on to pursue Bachelors of Arts degree in Psychology at the Sinhagad College in Pune but dropped out to focus on her acting career.

Desai was conceived in Surat, Gujarat to Niranjan Desai and Ameeta Desai. She has one sister named Esha Desai. Desai considered in St. Joseph Convent, Panchgani and finished her tutoring until ninth grade in Surat. She finished her higher examinations in Sinhagad College in Pune.
In 2006, Desai got chose to assume the lead role in Ekta Kapoor’s TV dramatization Kasamh Se. She was given a role as Bani, inverse TV performing artist Ram Kapoor. The show won her few honors including the Indian Telly Award for Best Actress in a Lead Role.
Desai at that point made a progress to the film business in 2008. Her first film was Rock On!! (2008), coordinated by Abhishek Kapoor, where she played the spouse of Farhan Akhtar. Desai needed to leave Kasamh Se to act in Rock On.
Her next film was Life Partner (2009). In July 2010, she showed up in Once Upon a Time in Mumbaai with Ajay Devgan, Emraan Hashmi and Kangana Ranaut.
